TONIGHT
The man in the moon
Smiles tonight,
And listens to promises
Sung in the night,
Romeos and Juliet
who plan their flight
Over the heavens
And beyond the light.
Clandestine twilight,
Covert plights
While our little selves
Dream of sights
living on the side
Hidden by the night.
The paper stars beckons
Before it strikes midnight
To believe once more
In pumpkin flights.
And though our bodies,
Our journey blights
We fuel our boats
With imagination’s might
To fly high
By the moonlight
Towards where the sandman
Drinks tonight
And the winking moon
Shall rise up the heights
Magic and beauty
To a poet’s delight
While lovers kiss
And lovers fight
Tonight
I know most of it sounds a bit cliche, but indulge me. I'm new in poetry. :)
